Kowloon Central 3D map launched

The Lands Department today launched the 3D Visualisation Map dataset of Kowloon Central and an online application platform Open3Dhk for the public to use free of charge.   To tie in with the development of a smart city, the department started the production of a citywide 3D Visualisation Map in 2021 for release in phases. The first 3D Visualisation Map covering Kowloon East was launched in December 2022.   The Kowloon Central 3D map released today comprises around 9,500 buildings and about 210 individual models of infrastructures, including flyovers, footbridges and subways. It can be downloaded through the Common Spatial Data Infrastructure portal.   Open3Dhk, an online platform transforming a variety of spatial data into user-friendly applications which can support diverse uses by the public, the academia and professionals was also launched today.   Through the interactive functions on the platform, users can view photorealistic 3D city models of Kowloon East and Kowloon Cent

Free Wi-Fi in Hong Kong

Free Wi-Fi services are widespread in Hong Kong.

In particular, there are many Wi-Fi.HK hotspots widely available across the city in locations such as major tourist attractions, shopping malls, parks and gardens, visitor centres, sports venues, museums, ferry terminals, cooked food centres and government buildings, which offer wireless internet connection completely free or free for a period of time. Download the Wi-Fi.HK app to search for a list of hotspot locations, where you can connect to the internet with the Wi-Fi.HK SSID.

You can also find Wi-Fi hotspots at most public transport areas and with the following service provider.

Hong Kong International Airport

Free wireless internet access is available at most seating and public areas in the passenger terminals.

MTR stations

You can connect wirelessly to the internet near the ‘MTR Free Wi-Fi Hotspot’ sign in every MTR station for free for up to 15 minutes per session, with a maximum of five sessions for each mobile device per day.

csl Wi-Fi hotspots

csl free Wi-Fi hotspots can be found on all MTR platforms and concourses, selected Starbucks Coffee, Pacific Coffee, 7-Eleven and Circle K outlets and at selected phone booths. Look for the ‘CSL’ SSID on your device to browse the Hong Kong Tourism Boards website and download apps from it for free.

  1. To enjoy the full function of apps developed by Hong Kong Tourism Board, you may need to use data or Wi-Fi connections. To avoid unnecessary charges, please remember to turn off the data roaming function in your mobile phone settings.
