Kowloon Central 3D map launched

The Lands Department today launched the 3D Visualisation Map dataset of Kowloon Central and an online application platform Open3Dhk for the public to use free of charge.   To tie in with the development of a smart city, the department started the production of a citywide 3D Visualisation Map in 2021 for release in phases. The first 3D Visualisation Map covering Kowloon East was launched in December 2022.   The Kowloon Central 3D map released today comprises around 9,500 buildings and about 210 individual models of infrastructures, including flyovers, footbridges and subways. It can be downloaded through the Common Spatial Data Infrastructure portal.   Open3Dhk, an online platform transforming a variety of spatial data into user-friendly applications which can support diverse uses by the public, the academia and professionals was also launched today.   Through the interactive functions on the platform, users can view photorealistic 3D city models of Kowloon East and Kowloon Cent

TD extends online booking service

​The Transport Department today announced that it has extended its online appointment booking service to cover the submission of over-the-counter applications for all driving licences and four types of driving tests.   From today, the public can book an appointment for over-the-counter applications at the department’s Licensing Offices for full driving licences (first issue), probationary driving licences, learner’s driving licences, driving instructor’s licences, direct issue of full driving licences and temporary driving licences.   They can also make an online appointment to apply for a driving test for private car, light goods vehicle, motorcycle and motor tricycle.   The opening period for online appointments is 10 weeks.   An applicant may submit one application for the above-mentioned driving licences within a scheduled time slot.   If an applicant makes an appointment to apply for a driving test, he or she may also submit an application for a learner’s driving licence under the name of the same applicant at the same time.   Additionally, iAM Smart holders can make online appointment bookings for counter services at the department's Licensing Offices through the system.   The Licensing Offices are open 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday.
