Health chief meets GD delegation

Secretary for Health Prof Lo Chung-mau met a delegation led by Guangdong Provincial Medical Products Administration (GDMPA) General Director Jiang Xiaodong today, with both sides agreeing to further deepen collaboration in relevant areas.    Prof Lo said the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government expressed its sincere gratitude to the GDMPA for its staunch support for Hong Kong in the past, including the implementation of the initiatives of, among others, the measure of using Hong Kong registered drugs and medical devices used in Hong Kong public hospitals in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and streamlining of the approval procedures for Hong Kong registered traditional proprietary Chinese medicines (pCms) for external use to be registered and sold in the Mainland.   The Government and the GDMPA agreed at the meeting to further deepen collaboration on the regulation of Chinese medicines (CM), the formulation of Greater Bay Area Chinese medicine standards,

1.66m vaccine doses administered

About 1,662,100 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 1,038,300 people receiving their first dose and about 623,800 getting their second dose.   Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 468,200 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 570,100 people have received the BioNTech one.   For the second dose, about 334,200 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 289,600 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.   About 5,400 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.   Among them, about 2,500 people received the jab at community vaccination centres (CVCs), while about 2,900 people were inoculated at private doctors and clinics participating in the programme.   Around 3,500 people received their second dose of the Sinovac vaccine today, including about 1,900 people vaccinated at CVCs and about 1,600 people through private doctors and clinics.   For the BioNTech vaccine, about 11,700 people received their first dose at CVCs and about 17,400 people received their second dose.   The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at CVCs is 96%, and 97% for the BioNTech one.   As of 8pm, about 3,300 people had booked their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine online, while about 11,100 had reserved their first and second doses of the BioNTech jab.   As of midnight, eight people were sent to hospitals.
