Health chief meets GD delegation

Secretary for Health Prof Lo Chung-mau met a delegation led by Guangdong Provincial Medical Products Administration (GDMPA) General Director Jiang Xiaodong today, with both sides agreeing to further deepen collaboration in relevant areas.    Prof Lo said the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government expressed its sincere gratitude to the GDMPA for its staunch support for Hong Kong in the past, including the implementation of the initiatives of, among others, the measure of using Hong Kong registered drugs and medical devices used in Hong Kong public hospitals in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and streamlining of the approval procedures for Hong Kong registered traditional proprietary Chinese medicines (pCms) for external use to be registered and sold in the Mainland.   The Government and the GDMPA agreed at the meeting to further deepen collaboration on the regulation of Chinese medicines (CM), the formulation of Greater Bay Area Chinese medicine standards,

1m people get 1st COVID-19 jab

The number of people who have received their first vaccine dose under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme has exceeded one million, the Government announced today.   The figure accounts for around 15% of the population aged 16 or above and eligible to get vaccinated through the programme.   About 1,593,600 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 1,005,400 people receiving their first dose and about 588,100 getting their second dose.   Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 457,800 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 547,700 people have received the BioNTech one.   For the second dose, about 327,700 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 260,500 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.   About 5,600 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.   Among them, about 2,600 people received the jab at community vaccination centres (CVCs), while about 3,000 people were inoculated at private doctors and clinics participating in the programme.   Around 2,900 people received their second dose of the Sinovac vaccine today, including about 1,800 people vaccinated at CVCs and about 1,100 people through private doctors and clinics.   For the BioNTech vaccine, about 10,000 people received their first dose at CVCs and about 12,200 people received their second dose.   The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at CVCs is 96%, while it is 97% for the BioNTech one.   As of 8pm, about 3,800 people had booked their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine online, while about 12,500 had reserved their first and second doses of the BioNTech jab.   As of midnight, nine people were sent to hospitals.
