DC reform meetings held

The Government held exchange meetings on the theme of improving the district governance system and reforming the District Councils (DCs) at the Central Government Offices today.   Over 80 Hong Kong Special Administrative Region deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and Hong Kong SAR members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) were there to exchange views on improving the district governance system and supporting the District Council election.   Chief Executive John Lee noted that it is the first major citywide election after improving the district governance system and reforming the DCs, and is of particular significance.   He said it also marks the final mile for the full implementation of the principle of “patriots administering Hong Kong” in the district governance structure.   The Chief Executive also noted that the election is of great significance to the good governance and the long-term st

2m vaccine doses administered

About 2,010,300 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 1,193,600 people receiving their first dose and about 816,700 getting their second dose.   Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 515,100 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 678,500 people have received the BioNTech one.   For the second dose, about 376,900 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 439,800 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.   About 5,200 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine and around 4,400 people received their second dose under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.   For the BioNTech vaccine, about 7,800 people received their first dose at community vaccination centres (CVCs) and about 8,400 people received their second dose.   The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at CVCs is about 96%, the same as for the BioNTech one.   As of 8pm, about 3,800 people booked their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine online, while about 8,400 reserved their first and second doses of the BioNTech jab.   As of midnight, six people were sent to hospitals.
