Police arrested four people after noticing that some individuals were displaying protest items that contained seditious wordings, chanting and committing unlawful acts in the vicinity of Causeway Bay since the afternoon of June 3.   Police announced the arrests in a statement and explained that upon investigation, they arrested the four individuals on suspicion of disorder in public places and doing an act or acts with seditious intention.   Additionally, four other people suspected of breaching public peace were brought to the police station for further investigation.   The force stressed that they are highly concerned about people attempting to incite and provoke others to commit illegal acts that endanger national security, public order and public safety.   Apart from stepping up patrols and enhancing intelligence-gathering, Police added that they will closely monitor the situation of various districts and strive to prevent and combat crimes. http://dlvr.it/Sq8xN8

Group gatherings exemption revised

The Government today gazetted the amendments to relevant regulations on prevention and control of disease to adjust the scope of exempted group gatherings under the vaccine bubble, which will take effect on June 24.   The amendments also provide the legal framework to implement the relevant infection prevention and control measures on cruises when “cruise-to-nowhere” itineraries are resumed.   Announced yesterday, the adjustments to the scope of exempted group gatherings under the Prevention & Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering) Regulation have been approved by the Executive Council today.   In addition, the Government announced in May that “cruise-to-nowhere” itineraries can resume from the end of July at the earliest when cruise companies strictly comply with a set of health control protocols.   To this end, the Prevention & Control of Disease (Requirements & Directions) (Business & Premises) Regulation was amended to incorporate cruise ships into the list of scheduled premises.   This would allow the Government to impose restrictions and requirements to the operational mode of cruise ships, including the relevant infection control measures.
