DC reform meetings held

The Government held exchange meetings on the theme of improving the district governance system and reforming the District Councils (DCs) at the Central Government Offices today.   Over 80 Hong Kong Special Administrative Region deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and Hong Kong SAR members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) were there to exchange views on improving the district governance system and supporting the District Council election.   Chief Executive John Lee noted that it is the first major citywide election after improving the district governance system and reforming the DCs, and is of particular significance.   He said it also marks the final mile for the full implementation of the principle of “patriots administering Hong Kong” in the district governance structure.   The Chief Executive also noted that the election is of great significance to the good governance and the long-term st

5.78m vaccine doses given

About 5,787,800 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 3,292,400 people receiving their first dose and around 2,495,400 getting their second dose.   Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 1,288,900 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 2,003,600 people have received the BioNTech one.   For the second dose, about 1,002,400 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 1,493,000 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.   About 68,800 people received jabs under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.   About 12,900 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine and around 11,700 people received their second dose.   For the BioNTech vaccine, about 23,500 people received their first dose and around 20,700 people got their second dose.   The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at community vaccination centres is about 96%, while it is about 98% for the BioNTech one.   As of 8pm, about 6,600 people booked their first and second doses of the Sinovac vaccine online, while about 41,600 reserved their first and second doses of the BioNTech jab.   As of midnight, 13 people were sent to hospitals.
