Trading fund marks jubilee

Chief Secretary John Lee today officiated at a ceremony to commemorate the Electrical & Mechanical Services Trading Fund's 25th anniversary.   The ceremony was held at the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department Headquarters under the theme of “Co-innovate & Co-create Our Future”.   Addressing the occasion, Mr Lee said the trading fund has always been a role model for the industry and the Government’s innovation facilitator.   He pointed out that the fund’s financial performance over the past 25 years has been satisfactory, and there has been a steady growth of business. Overall revenue in the 2020-21 financial year increased significantly by more than threefold compared to earlier years.   Mr Lee added that he expected the trading fund to maintain the spirit of serving the public as the top priority and utilise innovation and technology (I&T) applications to help integrate Hong Kong into the national development.   The Chief Secretary also hoped the fund would strengthen collaboration with cities in the Greater Bay Area in electrical and mechanical (E&M) training and I&T to open up more development opportunities for younger generations.   Along with other guests, Mr Lee launched the Global AI Challenge for Building E&M Facilities, an event jointly organised by the department and the Guangdong Provincial Association for Science & Technology to promote the application of semantic artificial intelligence in existing E&M systems of buildings.   The guests also officiated at the opening of the new E&M InnoFoyer on the ground floor of the department’s headquarters.
