DC reform meetings held

The Government held exchange meetings on the theme of improving the district governance system and reforming the District Councils (DCs) at the Central Government Offices today.   Over 80 Hong Kong Special Administrative Region deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and Hong Kong SAR members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) were there to exchange views on improving the district governance system and supporting the District Council election.   Chief Executive John Lee noted that it is the first major citywide election after improving the district governance system and reforming the DCs, and is of particular significance.   He said it also marks the final mile for the full implementation of the principle of “patriots administering Hong Kong” in the district governance structure.   The Chief Executive also noted that the election is of great significance to the good governance and the long-term st

8.67m jab doses given

About 8,676,600 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to the public, with about 4,492,500 people receiving their first dose and around 4,184,100 getting their second dose.   Among those given the first dose of vaccines, about 1,630,100 people have received the Sinovac jab and about 2,862,400 people got the BioNTech one.   For the second dose, about 1,518,600 people have received the Sinovac vaccine, while about 2,665,500 people have been administered the BioNTech jab.   About 30,100 people received jabs under the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme today.   Around 3,600 people received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine and around 6,700 people received their second dose.   For the BioNTech vaccine, about 8,300 people received their first dose and around 11,600 people got their second dose.   The overall percentage of people who received the Sinovac vaccine at community vaccination centres is about 95%, while it is about 91% for the BioNTech one.   As of midnight, seven people were sent to hospital.
