DC reform meetings held

The Government held exchange meetings on the theme of improving the district governance system and reforming the District Councils (DCs) at the Central Government Offices today.   Over 80 Hong Kong Special Administrative Region deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and Hong Kong SAR members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) were there to exchange views on improving the district governance system and supporting the District Council election.   Chief Executive John Lee noted that it is the first major citywide election after improving the district governance system and reforming the DCs, and is of particular significance.   He said it also marks the final mile for the full implementation of the principle of “patriots administering Hong Kong” in the district governance structure.   The Chief Executive also noted that the election is of great significance to the good governance and the long-term st

HK athletes claim more medals

Secretary for Home Affairs Caspar Tsui today congratulated Hong Kong athletes on winning another three gold and four bronze medals at the 11th National Games for Persons with Disabilities & the Eighth National Special Olympic Games.   Swimmer Wong Hon-yin bagged two more golds in the Men's SB14 100m Breaststroke and S14 100m Freestyle events, while Cheong Sui-kei topped the Women's S14 100m Freestyle competition.   Chow Chi-wai and Yam Kwok-fan scored bronze in the Men's T20 Long Jump and the Women's T36 100m races.   The other two bronze medals were claimed by the table tennis teams of Leung Chung-yan and Tsoi Ming-fai who took part in the Men's Doubles TT11 event and Lee Ming-yip, Tong Chi-ming and Tong Chi-yung who participated in the Men's Team TT7 event.   Mr Tsui said: “Hong Kong athletes maintained a high level of concentration and demonstrated outstanding skills during the competitions. I am proud of their excellent results.”
