DC reform meetings held

The Government held exchange meetings on the theme of improving the district governance system and reforming the District Councils (DCs) at the Central Government Offices today.   Over 80 Hong Kong Special Administrative Region deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and Hong Kong SAR members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) were there to exchange views on improving the district governance system and supporting the District Council election.   Chief Executive John Lee noted that it is the first major citywide election after improving the district governance system and reforming the DCs, and is of particular significance.   He said it also marks the final mile for the full implementation of the principle of “patriots administering Hong Kong” in the district governance structure.   The Chief Executive also noted that the election is of great significance to the good governance and the long-term st

NT LNY fair stalls to be auctioned

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department today reminded interested parties that the 2022 Lunar New Year fair stalls in the New Territories will be put up for open auction from November 23.   A total of 545 wet goods stalls at nine fairs in the New Territories will be auctioned, but no dry goods or fast food stalls will be offered. Opening prices range from $320 to $2,990.   The nine fairs will be held at Kwai Chung Sports Ground in Kwai Tsing, Sha Tsui Road Playground in Tsuen Wan, Shek Wu Hui Playground in North District, Man Yee Playground in Sai Kung, Po Hong Park in Tseung Kwan O, Yuen Wo Playground in Sha Tin, Tin Hau Temple Fung Shui Square in Tai Po, Tung Tau Industrial Area Playground in Yuen Long, and Tin Hau Temple Plaza in Tuen Mun.   While the bidding for the Tin Hau Temple Plaza fair stalls will take place at Tseng Choi Street Community Hall in Tuen Mun on December 7, the stalls at the remaining eight venues will be put up for separate auctions at the assembly hall on 2/F, Lai Chi Kok Government Offices in Lai Chi Kok from November 23 to December 2.   All auction sessions are scheduled from 9.30am on the respective auction day until the auction is completed, the department noted.
